Early in the Spring of 2021, I began to make collages. I'd never really done it before, but I really enjoy it. This is a combination of personal photos, alcohol ink bits, and moto acrylic pens. It's around 18" x 24". It has no name. Maybe Collage #2!

"Collage #1". 18" x 24". Multi-media. (2021). This was my first collage ever! A friend asked if I'd use her father's blueprints from the 1960s to make a piece "like you do things". I'd never done a collage, so I had to do a bit of research. I ended up cutting up the blueprints AND making copies of those pieces, some of which I made larger and others of which I soaked in coffee overnight. I then modge poged 'em down and then began to draw on them. I also though that some fragments of alcohol ink pieces (the red bits) might enhance it, and also added gold leaf (another thing I'd never done). I think it turned out well; she liked it quite a bit.

"Collage #4". 16" x 20". (2021). This one is a bit sad; another friend asked me to create something around a Rumi quote she liked. It's sometimes difficult for me to work with prompts so I thought about it for a few days and then started. I typed up the quote in word and played with the font until it looked good-ish. I then cut the quote up into pieces. It's embedded in the collage (both on the surface and beneath some transparent/opaque pieces of very thin Yupo paper dyed with light alcohol ink. I drew the heart and discovered moto metallic pens (instead of gold leaf, which is a giant mess). Notably, the pictures of the birds, flowers, and leaves, as well as the "walls" around the heart are all photos I've taken with my phone. I used my cheapo-copier to make simple copies, messed with them a bit, and then modge poged them all down. Incidentally, the "walls" are actually a picture of a tile floor I took with my phone in around 2013. Anyway, she liked it quite a bit.
